The ingazeiras are usually found on the banks of rivers and lakes, especially in the Amazon Forest, where there is a great diversity of species. Still, only 4 or 5 species present edible fruits.
The ingá fruit can be found not only in Brazil, but also in other Latin American countries, such as Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru, that is, it is widespread in this part of the hemisphere.
